At Go Beyond, we’re lucky to have supporters who go the extra mile – but Suzy and David have gone an extra 3,000 miles all by bike!

Suzy and David are the inspiring duo behind Midlife Migration. Four years ago, they traded the familiar for the unknown and started life in their trusty 32-year-old Hymer motorhome. In March 2025, deciding van life wasn’t a challenge enough, they packed away their beloved home on wheels and took to the road on bikes instead – and they’ve been cycling ever since!
For Suzy and David, childhood was all about muddy knees, endless games outdoors and the joy of riding bikes until the sun set.
“Returning home at the end of those adventures, we were grubby, happy, with rosy cheeks and voracious appetites, eagerly anticipating dinner […] Our worries no bigger than who would be out to play in the morning.”
At Go Beyond, we believe childhood should be filled with those simple pleasures and our work to support young people was the driving force behind their big adventure.
“Some children have never seen the sea, don’t have bikes or gardens to play in. Some are carers. Some face hunger or loneliness. We want to help give them a break – a real break.”
The funds they have worked tirelessly to raise will help Go Beyond give young people a week away in Derbyshire or Cornwall, where they can build friendships, explore nature, eat home-cooked meals and simply be carefree, often for the first time in their lives.

That’s why Suzy and David have been cycling nonstop along the 3,000-mile East Coast Greenway cycling route across the USA. With determination, commitment and a whole lot of pedal power they have been on a mission to raise funds for Go Beyond. Since setting off in March 2025 they’ve already surpassed their incredible target of £5,000 and are coming to the end of their journey and we have been blown away by the support they’ve received.
“Working alongside the dedicated team at Go Beyond fills us with immense pleasure, pride and excitement […] Our mission during this significant journey is to raise substantial funds, providing as many children as possible with fully funded respite breaks.”
From Key West to Maine, crossing 16 states, through rain and shine – and up some very steep hills – every mile has brought them closer to their goal. Their epic journey will help Go Beyond offer more children the chance to toast marshmallows around a campfire, climb hills, laugh with new friends and discover what it means to be a child.
We’ve been in awe of their journey as we’ve followed along, watching them cycle through torrential rain, closed roads and strong winds. They’ve definitely had some hard days and had to adapt quickly to the occasional bumps they hit along the road. But what has inspired us more than anything is the kindness they’ve found along the way – the strangers who helped them when they got lost, who opened their homes for a rest, a good meal and a hot drink, or who shared a few words of encouragement when they needed it most.
Getting to the top of even the steepest hill is easier when you’re surrounded by support – by people cheering you on, offering shelter in a storm, or simply reminding you why you began in the first place.
That’s what Suzy and David have found on their journey: not just miles covered, but moments of connection, compassion and shared hope. Through the funds they have raised, that’s exactly what they’re giving to the young people Go Beyond supports – a chance to feel the sun on their faces, to laugh, to be children again and to be surrounded by people who care.
Their final destination might be Maine, and we are sure they are looking forward to returning home, but the impact of their journey will continue at Go Beyond. Because sometimes, all it takes is a bike ride, a bit of courage and a whole lot of heart to make a big difference.
Feeling inspired by Suzy and David? Here’s how you can help:
- Support their fundraising: Donate and leave a message of support as they pedal the final miles of their journey.
- Take on your own challenge: Whether it’s a hike, run, bake sale or birthday fundraiser, you too can raise vital funds for Go Beyond.
- Volunteer on a break: Go Beyond’s incredible volunteers are at the heart of our work — they’re the people who make everything possible.
And remember, as Suzy and David remind us:
“Your donations do not have to be large amounts of money. Literally every penny you can spare will be gratefully received, not judged, and will go towards making a child smile.”
Check out their incredible journey on Instagram and Midlife Migration. Let’s cheer them on every step (and spin) of the way – and if you feel inspired to take action too, we’d love to hear from you.
