I am proud to be the CEO of Go Beyond. I lead a charity that has children at its heart and a very simple mission to give them a break from difficult lives. In my many years of working with and for children, young people, and families, I have seen the difference that a charity like Go Beyond can make. Every week I am privileged to hear the stories of how children grow in confidence during a break filled with fun and new adventures. Times are tough for all of us and many families are struggling, no wonder demand is rising. We will meet the challenge and have ambitious plans to grow and strengthen the charity. This is all only made possible thanks to the generous support of many donors and partners, our committed volunteers and the skilled work of our colleagues. It is a privilege to be able to work together we work as one happy team.
Chief Operating Officer Sue Cole
After a long career as an accountant and financial systems specialist within the retail banking sector, I transitioned to the role of a school business manager. I joined Go Beyond as Finance Director and am now the Chief Operating Officer. In my current role, I oversee the charity’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that all departments work together efficiently to achieve our mission of supporting young people and improving their lives. I am proud to work with the team at Go Beyond to ensure the ongoing success of the charity.
Director of Fundraising and Communications Sara Shearman
I feel privileged to use my fundraising skills and experience to help lead a team at Go Beyond to raise over £1.5 million every year to help fund our breaks for children and young people. My favourite part of the job is when I get to visit the centres and hear from our Break Leaders and the children how much fun and laughter they are having and what a difference our breaks are making. I am lucky to work with a great team of other fundraisers and marketing professionals who are helping the charity to keep making brighter futures for many children.
Operations Director Carl Wholey
As the Operations Director at Go Beyond I get the chance to shape our breaks into something relevant, fun and inspiring. Having helped out on numerous residentials with the charity, I get to see the positive change that happens to the young people during their time with us. The skill and patience of our Breaks Team along with the careful handling of referrals by our Coordination Team, alongside those professionals that refer the young people, ensure that everyone achieves something memorable and worthwhile from our breaks. My aim is to give young people the time, space and motivation aided by our inspiring locations, to develop a more positive personal image and aim for a brighter future than they initially thought possible.
