How can I book a place for a child or young person?

By completing this simple online form. Once the form is submitted, our team will call you to discuss your application over the phone and where possible confirm the place.

We’re sorry to say that submitting an application does not a guarantee the child or young person a place on a Go Beyond break. Whilst we do our best to accommodate as many children and young people on a break as possible, we often receive more booking requests than we have places for. In this situation, the child or young person will be placed on a waiting list for a break at the earliest opportunity.

Who is eligible?

Children and young people aged 8–13 who are in need of an escape from the serious worries and pressures they face. Some of the most common reasons include living in poverty, having to cope with caring responsibilities, suffering abuse, family breakdown, bullying or having recently been bereaved. If you’re unsure whether a  young person you work with might be eligible please contact Go Beyond by emailing coordinators@gobeyond.org.uk or calling 01822 811020.

How will I know if my booking has been successful?

Our team will call you to discuss your application. If we are able to offer a place, you will be asked to obtain Consent and Medical Forms signed by the young person’s legal guardian. We will also provide you with a form to return to us about travel arrangements.

Do you arrange travel to your centres?

No, we’re afraid not. It is your responsibility to arrange suitable transport for the children and young people.

If meeting at a collection point, we will let you know the location and what time the child or young person needs to arrive. All children and young people must be chaperoned by an appropriate adult aged 18+ for this part of their journey. A member of the Go Beyond team will meet the young person at your collection point and take them the remaining distance to our centre.

Who decides if the child or young person is eligible for a break?

All applications are assessed by our team. In some cases, the team makes the decision that Go Beyond is not suitable for a particular child or young person and may decline the booking. Should this happen, the reasons for the decision will always be explained to you clearly.

Is there a limit to how many bookings I can make?

No. You can make bookings for as many children as needed throughout the year. However, this does not guarantee that all children will be given places on breaks.

If you would like to bring a group of children onto a break, please contact our team. In some circumstances, we may be able to hold places for you ahead of receiving your completed forms.

For how long will my booking be valid?

Once we receive your application it will be valid for one year, or until the child is allocated a break with us. After a year, you will need to submit a new form via our website.

How can I take the child out of school time for their break?

Go Beyond is accredited by ASDAN, an educational awarding body, which means each child and young person can be marked as being educated off-site on the register under category B whilst away on break with us. Go Beyond and ASDAN recognise that whilst a child is on a break, they are still learning and developing in other ways. Children will be sent an ASDAN certificate after their break to acknowledge their experiences.

Can a child attend more than one break?

Yes, children are welcome back and we are open to discussing what frequency of breaks might work best for each child or young person. We look forward to building a working relationship with you in future.

How do I talk to the parents about their child going on a Go Beyond break?

Parents and guardians will naturally be keen to know where their child is going and what is planned for their Go Beyond break. Please refer them to this dedicated section of the Go Beyond website for lots of information including the chance to meet the team and see where their child will be staying.

Sometimes parents or guardians have questions about why their child has been booked on to a Go Beyond break. In some situations, you might need to be careful and sensitive with how you respond. If you would like any guidance on this, feel free to give the Go Beyond Team a call on 01822 811020 or email coordinators@go-beyond.org.uk.

Will we find out how the child or young person got on during their break?

Yes, we will happily share our experiences of supporting the child or young person who attended our break and what we observed during their time with us. However, we ask for your understanding that we are not an assessment, care or treatment provider and therefore cannot make informed judgements about any long-term changes in emotional, behavioral or wellbeing that might result following their break.

Our team will work with you to identify the outcomes that we feel match with the child’s circumstances and ask you to help us better understand expectations and any anxieties that we need to be aware of.

Our aim is to offer a fun, safe and friendly environment that challenges children to experience something new and learn from the outdoor environment. Based upon our extensive experience of delivering breaks, we know that the memories made on a Go Beyond break will last a lifetime.

To help us improve our offer, we will also ask for feedback from you following their break with us to, see if you have noticed any changes or improvements in the child who attended one of our breaks.

If you have any further queries at all, please contact a member of the Go Beyond team by emailing coordinators@gobeyond.org.uk or by calling 01822 811020.
