Michele Farmer has been appointed as the new CEO for Go Beyond, a charity giving children and young people facing serious challenges the chance for a break in the countryside. She joined us in August 2021, and has led us through the reopening of our Residential Breaks at our Coastal Centre in Cornwall.

Michele has put young people at the heart of her career. Champion for early intervention and prevention, she joins Go Beyond from the Prince’s Trust where she worked to connect the Trust with leaders and organisations, to ensure young people are offered as many opportunities as possible.

Stephen Brearley, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Go Beyond, said: “Go Beyond are delighted to welcome Michele Farmer as our new CEO. Michele brings with her a wealth of vital experience from the across both the charity and public sectors. Her compassionate and child focused leadership will ensure that Go Beyond will be able to support as many young people as possible for many years to come.”

Michele’s dedication to young people, particularly those who are at risk, compliments our charity’s mission; to provide breaks that inspire young people to go beyond anything that stands between them and their brightest future.

Michele Farmer, CEO, Go Beyond said: “Children who live in challenging circumstances, need and deserve a break – a chance to experience the countryside, make new friends and just be children.”

“Go Beyond has been offering these opportunities for nearly 30 years but the pandemic has been tough. I’m looking forward to helping the charity go from strength to strength and I’m interested to hear from anyone who can help.”

Our Breaks are packed with activities intended to encourage self-belief and inspire adventure. Our biggest hope is for each child to go home knowing they can achieve more than they ever thought possible, inspired by what the world can offer them, and what they in turn can offer the world.

We’re eager to see what the future holds for the charity with Michele at the helm.

Stephen Brearley, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Go Beyond, added: “We’d like to ask the young people we support, our staff, volunteers, and donors to join us in wishing Michele all the very best in her new position.”

Michele kickstarted her time here at Go Beyond by featuring on BBC Radio Devon’s morning show with Gordon Sparks on 17 August. Forward to 1h35 to hear from Michele.
