Meet our next Christmas superstar volunteer, Kathy.
Kathy has been volunteering at CHICKS since 2014, and this Christmas will be her fifth break! Kathy says: “Christmas is a time of possibility, positivity and opportunity; to me this also epitomises a break at CHICKS.
“On the breaks I have previously had the opportunity to volunteer on, the young people have told and shown me that CHICKS gives them many different things. From more food than they get at home, to the opportunity to make new friends, feel unconditionally valued or have "the best week of their life", CHICKS breaks offer temporary freedom from the responsibilities of caring, the pressures of poverty or the burdens of being bullied.
“Not only do the breaks offer temporary freedoms but they also provide the opportunity to enjoy the moment and make memories for the future. The importance of creating positive memories cannot be underestimated in increasing self-esteem, facilitating resilience and giving hope for when times are hard.”
This year, our Christmas break has been generously sponsored by Ginsters. But we are already booking children onto our 2017 breaks, and we really need your help. Support us here.
