We were delighted when Geoffrey Cox QC, MP for Torridge and West Devon (which is home to our Moorland Retreat) offered to sponsor an event for us at the House of Commons.
On Thursday 15th September, around 100 guests came together to enjoy an afternoon tea in the Terrace Pavilion, which has amazing views over the Thames!
Corporate supporters and donors of CHICKS joined staff members, trustees, and beneficiaries to learn more about the charity. Former CHICKS children Alice and Josie, who now volunteer on breaks, gave a speech talking about how they have benefitted from being involved, and referrer Carron Cumberbatch from Barking and Dagenham Young Carers talked about how the breaks help the children she works with.
During the afternoon, entertainment was provided by the Extreme Cello trio, who also presented a cheque with the total raised during their fundraising challenge this summer!
We were also delighted to be joined by our patron, actress Jenny Agutter, who has supported us for many years.
