We had a wonderful time at the 2017 Devon County Show last month, with volunteers and visitors coming out in force to enjoy the event and to help us raise an incredible £8,093.75!
Our colourful stall was bustling, with children and adults alike joining in with the activities on offer; from building a sandcastle, to taking part in our prize draw, or sharing their favourite childhood and holiday memories on our special memory board.
We were also really delighted to receive a visit from HRH The Countess of Wessex, the President of the Devon County Show this year, who stopped by to learn more about CHICKS and the work that we do to provide free respite breaks for disadvantaged children from Devon, and across the UK.

We would like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful team of volunteers who gave up their time and energy to help make the event such a success for CHICKS, as well as all the people who stopped by to get involved with everything on our stall.
An extra-special thank you goes to Santander for volunteering with us on the first day of the show, and helping us to significantly boost our fundraising by match-funding an amazing £1,695.92!
Caroline Stevens, Select Relationship Manager at Santander’s Exeter branch said: “It felt great to be able to give something back to a charity that does so much to help our local community. We hope the money raised makes a real difference to the children supported by CHICKS, and allows more children and their families to benefit from some time away from their usual circumstances.”
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the show, and are over the moon with the generosity of everyone involved!
Finally, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all the companies and individuals who made it possible by generously donated prizes or equipment for the event:
