100 x 100 Meter Challenge

Derek has been running a 100 x 100 metre since 13 September 2021 and is aiming to finish his challenge on 16 December at Exeter Harriers Club!

Derek grew up in many places across the UK and had wonderful experiences in the countryside. He wants children to have similar experiences and grow to have an appreciation for the countryside.  At Go Beyond some children who go on a break have never seen the sea before or even some animals like cows.  When they are on a residential break they are surrounded by beautiful countryside and are able to learn about foraging, bush craft, how to grow vegetables and plants, can paddle and swim in the sea and are encouraged to learn about the environment they are surrounded by and its benefits.

Fiona Ruttle

Deloitte’s Ride Across Britain

Fiona set out on 4th September from Land’s End to John O’Groats as part of Deloitte’s ‘Ride Across Britain’. She faced almost vertical paths, the brutal Lecht Pass and dealt with downpours that felt like cycling through a huge wall of water for 70 miles! These are just a few of the aspects she overcame, let alone the physical and mental fatigue that a journey like this comes with. The children, and everyone at Team GB, cannot thank Fiona enough for her dedication to raising funds for Go Beyond, and inspiring children across the UK to believe they can achieve anything they set their mind to. Fiona was accompanied by her sister Sarah on their epic challenge and together they spurred each other on, thank you Sarah!

Jeremy Elliott

Cycle from Highgate to Holkham

Jeremy Elliott, his son, and their friends took on the challenge of cycling over 126 miles to Norfolk. The weather had its ups and downs, and they started day two of the journey bright and early to get as many miles as they could get in!

Jeremy raised an enormous £4,853 which enables us to continue to provide a safe and supportive environment in which children can be their true selves.  A huge and heartfelt thank you to Jeremy for enduring such a challenge to support Go Beyond.

Make the Point

Make the Point is a 10k charity run based in Sandbay near Weston Super Mare. Callie Pothecary and Jemma Milton have been running the event for six years and have raised a total of £24,000 for two charities close to their hearts. Their determination and passion has known no bounds! During the height of the pandemic they adapted their event and asked people to take part virtually. From 71km bike rides, to 10km running races their event participants enjoyed every moment.

Before their last event they said:

“This will be our way of saying cheerio for now after holding events under the Make the Point umbrella for the last 5 years, this being our 6th. We want to thank you all so much for all your support and generosity over the years, we could not have done any of it without you and you all have made a huge difference!!”
