In September we were joined by over 20 volunteers from across Tesco stores in Devon and Cornwall as part of their country-wide Community Outreach programme. They arrived on a sunny Tuesday morning to get stuck in with a range of DIY tasks from painting to gardening, mending to building. Our Coastal Centre in Cornwall was closed for breaks during lockdown which meant we were unable to carry out our routine maintenance around the site. Their help enabled us to make the centre look as good as new!

On the day, the Tesco team split off in to four groups and each group made their way to a different part of the site to get started. One team painted all our outside ‘grey’ walls white again, one team worked on creating a ‘Go Beyond Games Room’ mural, another team painted our outside wooden fencing and railings, and another gave our plants some love and care!

For many children who join us on a Break, this is the first and possibly only holiday they’ll ever had. And many have never left their towns or seen the sea. Our Centre is a home away from home where they can make new friends, push themselves to try new activities, breathe in some country air, and relax. That is why we are so thankful for the time and effort the team of Tesco Managers and Community staff put in to making the centre sparkle for the children.

We had volunteers from the following Tesco Stores join us for the day: St Austell, St Ives, Pentewan Express, Plymouth Transit Way, Tavistock, Callington, Weybridge, Launceston, Truro, Helston, Braunton, Newton Abbot, Redruth, Barnstaple, Kingsbridge, Bideford and Crediton.

Every little helps!
